Ο σεισμός εξαφάνισε το γραφικό χωριό… Συντρίμμια , θάνατος και θλίψη. Ο σεισμός στην Ιταλία, μεγέθους 6,2 βαθμών της κλίμακας Ρίχτερ, που σημειώθηκε τα ξημερώματα της Τετάρτης (24.08.2016) ισοπέδωσε το χωριό Αματρίτσε. Μια αεροφωτογραφία μαρτυρά το μέγεθος της καταστροφής που έχει σημειωθεί.
Το Αματρίτσε είναι ένα ορεινό χωριό στην κεντρική Ιταλία, το οποίο αποτελεί δημοφιλή προορισμό τόσο για ξένους τουρίστες όσο και για κατοίκους της Ρώμης ή άλλων πόλεων της Ιταλίας, σύμφωνα με άρθρο.

Δεν είναι όμως μόνο τουριστικός προορισμός το Αματρίτσε. Παλιότερα ήταν διάσημο για την σάλτσα Sugo all’amatriciana. Σύμφωνα με την παράδοση, πολλοί από τους μάγειρες των Παπών της Ρωμαιοκαθολικής Εκκλησίας κατάγονταν από το Αματρίτσε.

Τα παλιά, στην πλειοψηφία τους, σπίτια έχουν καταστραφεί. Οι εικόνες πριν και μετά είναι συγκλονιστικές.
